An Evening with George Wuerthner
Please join us for an evening with forest ecologist and photographer/writer George Wuerthner on Tusday May 12th, 2009 at the 1912 Building in downtown Moscow. This event is free and open to the public, and will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided by FOC.
George Wuerthner is a freelance writer who has lived for periods of time in Montana, Idaho, Alaska, Texas, Colorado, California, and Oregon. He has held a number of jobs with federal agencies during that time: surveyor, forestry technician, range technician, botanist, biologist, park ranger, and river ranger. He has spent a significant amount of time working and recreating in Yellowstone National Park.
"I'm a full time freelance writer and photographer with a natural resource background. I have a degree in botany, wildlife biology, and range so I have the knowledge to understand what I am seeing as I travel. And what I see across much of the West is alot of environmental destruction," said Wuerthner.
Wuerthner has recently published two new books, "Wildfire" and Thrillcraft". His presentation will focus on the mismanagement of wildland fire over the past century, as well as the growing threat/damage of off-road vehicles on public lands. "I love the Clearwater region and look forward to coming to Moscow, Idaho," said Wuerthner.
Hope to see you and your friends on the 12th!
