Dear Friends,
Wolves howl in the Clearwater, even as those in power at the state and federal levels wish they wouldn't. They continue to howl, even as a vocal group of wolf-haters representing a small percentage of hunters in Idaho claim that all hunters want them gone. Read up on last week's wolf-related events and commentary

Dear Friends:
Snow falls in the Wild Clearwater Country tonight. There has been good winter precipitation this year thus far, fueling the headwaters of the Clearwater with a source for the cold, clear water necessary to sustain anadromous fisheries, hearty amphibians, and even mollusks.
For years scientists have studied the history of an area through tree rings, ice cores, and sediment deposits. Now, several scientists in the Northwest have begun to look at the rings of river mussels as indicators of the past's water chemistry and quality.

Dear Friends,
As we head into the holidays let's remember those critters that have to eek out a living, especially as temperatures dip and the snow falls. With your support we've protected the Clearwater wolves from a killing proposal earlier this year. We now face the challenge of de-listing. Please read up on the current state of wolves in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming and take the time to write a letter to the editor voicing your concern for our big predator friends.

Dear Friends,
The case for healthy forests that cost less money to manage is being made throughout the West. Projects designed to improve "forest health" are being exposed for what they are, ecologically devastating management practices that often disrupt ecosystems when they are most sensitive (i.e. post-fire logging).
