Public Rally Opportunity
All,
We wanted to make you aware of two rallies that are occurring this week in Idaho. One is an anti-megaload rally in Moscow, the other is a pro-wolf rally in Coeur d' Alene.
Wild Idaho Rising Tide is organizing a rally in downtown Moscow at 10 pm on Thursday, August 25, on the patio of Pie Hole pizza. The pizza shop is on the corner of Second and Washington, across the street from Moscow City Hall. Please bring signs and banners if you have them. The Moscow Peace Band will also be in attendance. The local media has reported that the megaload coming through town is over 413,600 lbs, 208 ft long, 24 feet wide and 14 feet tall. It will leave the Port of Lewiston at approximately 10:00pm Thursday evening. The module is destined for the Alberta Tar Sands.
Northern Idaho Wolf Alliance is organizing a rally in Coeur d' Alene at 11am on Sunday, August 28th, at Ramsey Park. Ramsey Park is on the 3500 block of Ramsey Road. Please bring signs and banners if you have them. There is a carpool leaving from the Rosauer's parking lot in Moscow at 9:30am. We will be returning sometime in the afternoon. The rally is in response to the wolf hunt that is set to begin in Idaho on Tuesday August 30th.
On a related note, the Alliance for the Wild Rockies, Wild Earth Guardians, and Friends of the Clearwater have filed an injunction with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to stop the scheduled wolf hunts in Idaho and Montana. If an injunction is granted, the hunts would be blocked until the court issues a final decision on the case.
