Friends of the Clearwater is cooperating with Wildlands CPR (Missoula, MT) for the second year in a row in studying sections of decommissioned roads on the Clearwater NF. Last year's data indicated that black bears increasingly make use of obliterated roads the further from secondary roads (paved) the sections occur.

We will be monitoring 4 sites on Feather Creek (15 minutes north of Bovill) all summer and into the Fall. Please join us for one of our weekly monitoring trips. Its about a four hour operation to download digital photographs from motion sensitive cameras and replacing track plates (designed to capture resident animal prints).

Please contact foc@friendsoftheclearwater.org to join us for a walk in the woods a chance to learn about this interesting study.
