Ecosystem Defense Comment on all agency actions on the Clearwater, Nez Perce,
Idaho portion of the Bitterroot (all Wilderness except for Magruder
corridor), southern St. Joe National Forests Increase involvement on BLM
inholdings in the Clearwater region, where appropriate and resources permit.
Prioritize projects for commenting, public involvement, and appealing. Be
proactive, where possible, by following up issues with media releases and
contact, administrative channels, and other avenues. Integrate volunteers in
any or all of these projects when appropriate. Education & Outreach
Newsletter out in a timely manner (4 times per year including update).
Produce special issue alerts on an as needed basis. Produce a mailing to
members for important programs, events and presentations. Use email and the
newsletter calendar to communicate other events and fast-breaking news. Hold
organizing potlucks at regular semi-monthly intervals during the school year
except near breaks. Organize the agendas to increase turnout, invite mixing
and socializing, invite participation, and provide an idea of what to expect
at the meetings. Organize Field Trips semi-monthly with Sierra Club and other
local organizations when possible to visit roadless areas proposed for
Wilderness in NREPA, discuss crucial issues, and to get folks excited about
the wild. Plan one or two educational event per semester outside of
educational potlucks. Coordinate with other entities to avoid conflicts in
scheduling and to increase interest and participation (PCEI, Palouse Audubon,
Idaho Native Plants, etc. Develop series of digital slide shows/power point
presentations to have on hand depending on the target audience. Actively seek
out opportunities in schools and with community groups. Use roadless
powerpoint for presentations when applicable. Continue to table at Moscow

the Clearwater wild. In addition to legislative vehicles like NREPA plan to
do the following for the coming year: Keep up the focus on the Forest Plan
revision process. Keep the cedars report, an economic paper, water quality,
and roadless/wilderness policy in the limelight. This will entail
considerable coordination with the Nez Perce Tribe and community outreach and
necessitate a coordinated plan for addressing outreach. Bring on a
NREPA/Wilderness Intern to assist with the development of a Wilderness/NREPA
Powerpoint presentation, strategy for creating public interest in NREPA and
Wilderness, locally and regionally. Make Clearwater roadless areas a priority
via NREPA.. Increase their visibility through hikes, outreach, and
handouts/web, and special presentations. Continue to support efforts on
salmon/steelhead restoration and bull trout recovery. Print Brochure Continue
to monitor South Fork Clearwater in recovery. Change the volunteer forest
watch monitoring program to make it more flexible. Continue with ORV project
begun last year which includes monitoring, data gathering, hikes and citizen
involvement. Plan for in field research time in work schedules. During the
summer, try to be in the field enough as staff and/or volunteers, to remain
effective in advocating for the Wild and in understanding the issues
on-the-ground. Rather than focus on timber sale monitoring (though important)
be flexible and look at various resources. Prioritize litigation
possibilities (ORVs, wolves, other logging projects). Work with the UI
Environmental Law Society and others to make advances in this area Misc.

include revenue goals as a percentage of fundraising Hold at least 4 Board
