Dear Friends,
Snow and rain continue to pound the Clearwater this winter. Hwy 12, running from Lewiston to Missoula has been closed just east of Three Rivers because of avalanches and continuing avalanche conditions.
Please join us next Saturday (Feb. 16) as we snowshoe somewhere in the Clearwater! Because of the rain on snow events and intermittent road access we will be deciding our destination at the last possible moment. Never fear, your safety and our own is at the top of our priorities. We will be meeting at Rosauers parking lot in Moscow at 8:00 a.m. and plan to return around 7:00 p.m.
Important Local Issue
This past Monday the Moscow City Council voted 5 to 1 to force Mayor Chaney sign off on a water Settlement Agreement reached behind closed doors between Hawkins Development and the Cities of Moscow, Colton, and the Washington Dept. of Ecology. The council vote was also behind closed doors, with only Moscow councilman Tom Lamar voting against it.
Hawkins plans to build a 700,000+ square foot shopping center between Moscow and Pullman drawing over 20 million gallons of water annually from the already stressed aquifer which supports Moscow.
