Dear Friends,
This week in the Big Wild: an upcoming outing on the Palouse Ranger District, a full time Americorps position available with Friends of the Clearwater, an insightful piece on NREPA, and another proposed Forest Service budget slash.
Please join us as we snowshoe the Palouse Divide this Saturday, Feb. 16. We will be meeting at Rosauers parking lot in Moscow at 8:00 a.m. to carpool to the Nordic Ski Area which straddles the Palouse River/St. Maries River Divide. Streams and creeks to the South flow into the Palouse River while those to the north contribute to the St. Maries system. If you don't have snowshoes swing by Hyperspud Sports in Moscow to rent a pair for $8 per day. We will return around 6:00 p.m. Remember to dress warm, bring water and lunch, and no pets, please.
A full time Americorps position is currently available with Friends of the Clearwater! If you love wild country and enjoy talking to people this could be the gig for you. The 11 month position would begin this Spring and includes a monthly living stipend, nearly $5000 in education awards, insurance, and existing student loan forbearance. The big perks are working for a growing and vibrant grassroots group in a comfortable and cooperative working atmosphere!
