Upcoming events!

Dear Friends,

Please note and consider joining us for these two upcoming events!

This Saturday, June 6, 7:30 p.m. at East Side Marketplace. Bring a lunch, food, and water.

Coastal Disjunct Hike

The Idaho Native Plant Society has organized a trip to the lower Selway and Lochsa Rivers to see first hand what Spring looks like in a coastal disjunct ecosystem. The long canyons of the Clearwater have for eons provided "refuge" habitat for species (both plant and animal) that require milder and moister conditions than most of the Northern Rockies can provide. These disjunct portions of coast-like habitat are home to stands of old-growth alder, western redcedar, maidenhair fern, and pacific dogwood. This is a great chance to enjoy and learn more about this uncommon habitat.

Next Wednesday, June 10, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the University of Idaho, College of Nat. Res. (CNR) Room 108

Coeur d'Alene Salamander sampling workshop

UI Doctoral student Caren Goldberg will be discussing chytrid fungus and its impact on amphibian populations around the world and also in the Northern Rockies. Her presentation will be followed by an organizational meeting for those interested in helping sample the sensitive Coeur d'Alene salamander and a brief citizen scientist training on locating and sampling individual salamanders.

We hope to see you at these great events!
