Celebrate 22 years of defending the Wild Clearwater Country!
FOC's Upcoming Annual Meeting Celebration
Dear Friends,
On Saturday, November 7, 2009 Friends of the Clearwater will be celebrating 22 years of protecting the wild and wonderful Wild Clearwater Country! We hope you join us for this fabulous event as we hold our traditional potluck style dinner at the 1912 Building (412 East Third St.) in Moscow beginning at 6:00 p.m. Note that this is a change from our originally planned start time at 6:30 p.m. The night will include live music, a silent auction, volunteer awards, and our annual recognition of a hero of wildland protection in the Northern Rockies.
This year's recipient of the "Macfarlane Award", named after our own Gary Macfarlane, who has spent most of his life working to protect wildlands in the region, goes to Barry Rosenberg, who founded Kootenai Environmental Alliance in 1972 and just retired as its Executive Director earlier this year. Barry and KEA have taken on clear-cutting and road-building in the Idaho Panhandle and Kootenai National Forests, have filed numerous protests of individual water rights in Kootenai County, and have worked to revise outdated Idaho water laws that allow developers to waste thousands of gallons of water without penalty. This is just a small sample of the issues Barry has worked on over the past three and a half decades. Come and hear him share his stories and vision for conservation in the Northern Rockies with us!
Friends of the Clearwater, that's each and every one of us, has been busy this year. We've made some real progress and of course we have some new battles yet to fight. We will be sharing these stories and more with you as well on November 7. 6:00 p.m. at the 1912 Building in Moscow (412 East Third St. across from Moscow High).
Please also consider bringing a item to donate for our silent auction.
See you all soon!
for the Wild Clearwater Country,
Will Boyd, Education & Outreach Director
