Friends of the Clearwater to hold volunteer informational party, Tuesday, January 19, 6:00 p.m. in downtown Moscow

Friends of the Clearwater, a local conservation organization, will be holding a volunteer information meeting, Tuesday, January 19 at 6:00 p.m. at their downtown Moscow office (116 East Third St.). Offices are located above the Shirt Shack across the street from Peck's Shoes.

Pizza and beverages will be provided for community members interested in volunteering for the organization. Because of the grassroots nature of Friends of the Clearwater numerous volunteer opportunities are available. Everything from data entry, to wildlife photography, to radio production, to forest monitoring, article writing, and community outreach.

According to Education & Outreach Director, Will Boyd, "Numerous community members have indicated interest in volunteering for the organization over the past 3 months during a community wide canvas. This will be the "next step" for those folks as well as any other interested local citizens.

"Friends of the Clearwater really is a volunteer driven organization," said Gary Macfarlane, Executive Director for the organization. The group was all volunteer since inception in 1987 to approximately 1995. Since that time 2-3 staff persons has been the norm.
