Howdy Friends, Paul here. I started my position at Friends of the Clearwater in February of 2021. I feel incredibly lucky to work here, especially in a year like this.
2021 has been a year of extremes. It feels hard to remember now, with snow piling by the foot in North Idaho, but it wasn’t so long ago I was field monitoring through the smoke of the Nez Perce Forest, driving in circles to find unclosed roads, and surviving the 105+ temperatures of the “heat-domed” Selway.
It was extreme in other ways. The deadbeat dams of the Snake River look less permanent than ever – but so do Idaho’s wolves, forced by politics into the crosshairs of extirpation once again.
There are only 3 days left of the year. And that means only 3 days left to make a tax-deductible donation in support of Wild Clearwater Country for 2021.
If you haven’t given, now is your chance to donate $25 for the largest unprotected wild place in the lower 48.
Thank you, and Happy New Year.
